Hey there, WELCOME to Church House Puzzles!!!
This is a completely free resource site where you can find absolutely free crossword puzzles and word searches, also commonly called word finds. Pretty much all of our materials are Bible based and can be used from the grade school level all the way up to Bible scholar level. We have word finds about a lot of the people and stories in the Bible like our Abraham word search, David word search, Jesus word search, and many others. Then there are some that are much less common and pretty neat like our Caesars in the Bible word search, Foods of the Passover Seder word search, Mountains in the Bible word search, and Weights and Measures in the Bible word search.
These are pretty interesting as they are not so much common knowledge and will get you or your class to thinking and asking questions about who some of these people were and where some of these places were. Who would have thought that something as simple as a word find could spark interest and discussion. A great way with kids of all ages is to pass out the word finds face down and have them all wait until everyone has theirs and them have them flip them over and race. Offer a prize to the one who finishes theirs first. Most kids seem to like candy, but since we live in a politically correct time, maybe you can throw a stick of celery out there and see if they get excited. If they go for it then great, but if not go back to the candy!
We also have our totally and completely free crossword puzzles. These are fun too, but are not so much for the smaller kids. Some of these crosswords get pretty tough and will really make you think, or at least do some searching on the internet for some answers. Many of our crossword puzzles share the same theme as our word searches so you can start of with the word search and then once they are familiar with some of the names and terms then they can move up to the Bible crossword puzzles. So take a look around at the crosswords and word finds on our site and see if there is one that you think would be fun for you or your class to give a try.
